Day Five: A Strong Marriage

Scripture Reading 

Ephesians 5:23–33
v23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

v24 Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

v25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

v26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

v27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

v28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

v29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

v30 For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

v31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

v32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

v33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

***Ask God to protect your pastor’s marriage and keep it strong as a model of Christ’s relationship with the Church. Pray that your pastor will tenderly cherish and lead his wife and that she will respect and encourage her husband, submitting to his leadership. If your pastor is not married, pray for his relationships with loved ones and those who are close to him.

My prayer

Lord I pray a strong biblical style marriage for Pastor Tom and his wife. Lord, I thank you for letting them be the example and role model for a "Christian " marriage. Thank you for letting them have a mind to seek you in their marriage in every aspect of their marriage. His love for his wife as a leader and a husband. Keep Pastor Tom in the humble position he is in and the leadership position he holds. Let him be the light to other marriages, troubled or great. Thank you for giving him a mind to seek and serve you as a true man of God. We continue to lift up Pastor Tom as the Shepherd you have given us. In Jesus name , Amen.
