Women of the Bible Series Bible Study: Lesson 4

Welcome back ladies to "Women of the Bible Series" Online bible study. Lesson 4

Last lesson we talked about Rebecca and how she was betrothed to Issac and gave birth to twins Esau and Jacob who were destined to be against each other. She was a strong willed, beautiful woman part of God's plan and purpose. This weeks lesson is going to be on Mary, the mother of Jesus. What a perfect way to end the series, with the most important woman ever  in biblical history.

Mary's story was limited in the gospels. but she was spoken of enough to know she was the chosen virgin of God to give birth to Jesus. Mary was a Jewish peasant girl from Nazareth. She was to marry Joseph who was chosen to be Jesus' earthly father. As the story goes, Mary bore a son and called Him Jesus. Mary watched her son as he taught and preached in the Galilean countryside. Jesus was arrested and crucified. No one really knows what her emotions were at the crucifixion. As a mother myself, I can only imagine the pain she felt as she found her son dead. This is the story of a girl who turned woman and bore the savior of the world. None of us will ever be Mary per say, but some of us are mothers. We know what it feels like when our children are harmed or injured.

Here are some of Mary's attributes. She was strong, obedient, and part of God's plan to save the world through bearing by immaculate conception, God's son Jesus.

Who among us are Mary's?

Lord, help us to be obedient to your will and be open to your spirit. As you speak, help us to listen thoroughly and obey your word. Give us the hearts we need to be sensitive to you way. Your ways are not our ways and your time is not our time. Teach us to be prepared for your will in our lives to be done. These things we ask in Jesus' name. Amen.
