What Are You Wearing Today?
Are you remembering to guard your body as you dress for the day? You may be asking, What do you mean? Well in Ephesians 6:11-18 these scriptures tell us to dress in our armour so that we are properly equip to fight the enemy. He doesn't fight fair and we need to be ready for anything he has for us on a daily basis.
The Full Armour of God
Ephesians 6:11-18 KJV
VS 11~Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
We are fighting a heavy weight here, but not a champion. The devil is very artistic, smart, crafty, and informative of each individual. We are going up against the devils cunning tricks and deceiving lies. He uses forces and violence, and searches for our weakness and uses it all against us to fall. He will stop at nothing to get us where he wants us.
VS 12~ For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
We aren't fighting against our husbands, brothers, sisters, mothers, or even our children. Neither are we fighting against other people so to speak, but we are up against the devils cunning tricks and deceiving lies. The devil is the prince of the power of the air, check out this scripture
*(Ephesians 2:2 "In which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience".)
This tells us here he is the ruler of the unseen world and the spirit that influences those of us who are disobedient to God. Principalities are forces of evil that interact with humans in rebellion to God. Rulers of the darkness of this world are spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places which is the devil and his demons. Spiritual wickedness in high places emphasizes a battle beyond this world. Spiritual battles can occur at all levels, anywhere across this world or beyond it. As believers we must be prepared for all types of attacks. It's through putting on GOD'S FULL armour that we are complete and ready to fight, as Paul describes for us in chapter 6 of the book of Ephesians.
VS 13~Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Okay, are you ready, this is where we suit up? We have a whole outfit to put on daily in the spirit along with our natural clothing. Let's prepare to discuss it. These are the daily pieces of armour of God that we should put on for our battles.
VS 14~ Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
1. Belt of Truth~ A symbol of trust and trustworthiness in a Christians life representing truth being a central part of a Christian's identity. The Belt of Truth protects against the lies of the enemy.
2. Breastplate of Righteousness~ A symbol of God's righteousness and Christs' performance on the cross. A supernatural armour that enables Christians to stand against the forces of evil and darkness by being a light. The Breastplate of Righteousness protects the heart from the enemy's arrows and the devil's accusations. It also protects against bitterness, anger, and misunderstanding the Lord's leading.
VS 15~ And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
3. Shoes of the Gospel of Peace~ A symbol of peace. A message represented by Christians sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with other believers to fight spiritual battles. The Gospel of Peace shoes provide a firm foundation that helps Christians keep their footing in difficult times.
VS 16~ Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
4. Shield of Faith~ A symbol of the act of using ones faith as a defensive tool against spiritual attacks otherwise known as fiery darts from the enemy. The Shield of Faith is meant to block and deflect the devils attacks and negativity.
VS 17~And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
5. Helmet of Salvation~ A symbol of protection from the devil's attacks on our mind and also assurance that daily attacks from the devil will not always be there to taunt us. The Helmet of Salvation protects our soul from spiritual death, it gives us a feeling of putting on Christ Himself, living every day with our focus on eternal life and our future in heaven promised by God.
6. Sword of the Spirit~ A Symbol of the word of God, the Bible. The sword of the spirit is used to fight, see truth, protect and judge. It fights against the enemy and protects us from his lies, it helps us see the truth of God's love, live a free and sinless life, judge the thoughts and attitudes of hearts and also heal spiritual blindness. The Sword of the Spirit is Gods guide for our lives.
VS 18~Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
7. Praying~This isn't a part of the armour, but it is a very necessary part of winning our spiritual battles. It is the seal of the armour I call it. It seals the outfit. Prayer will be the extra over the top for the rest of the pieces of our armour. Paul encouraged us to "pray" and "stay alert" as part of "putting on the full armor of God". Prayer connects and keeps us in touch with God, allowing us to tell Him our inner most feelings. In groups of prayer warriors we can reach more and that's also a plus.
*(Deuteronomy 32:30 "How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the Lord had shut them up?")
Prayer and Supplication (thanksgiving) are essential in prayer combined with the armour of God.
*(Philippians 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.")
So after listing and describing our 7 pieces of armour, it is safe to say that with the full armour on we can defeat any devil. Partnering up with someone else will make it all the more satisfying. God can do anything but fail and with the full armour of God on we can't go wrong. I hope you enjoyed this post. I have a few Bible studies on the Full Armour of God. They can be found on the website.
As I do in most posts, I would like to extend an invitation to anyone that wants to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If this is you, then just recite this prayer:
