Wearing the Armor of God Women’s Bible Study:Study Introduction

Here are our scriptures for this bible study.

Scriptures
Ephesians 6:10-24
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:
22 Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that ye might know our affairs, and that he might comfort your hearts.
23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
1 Thessalonians 5:8
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
Isaiah 59:17
17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
Romans 13:11-14
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
2 Corinthians 10:3-6
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
Romans 8:37
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Putting on the Whole Armor of God

Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God. But what is the armor, and how do
we wear it? Is it still relevant for Christians today?
The answers to these questions are listed below;

     The Armor of God Is;
1. The breastplate of righteousness
2. The shoes of the gospel of peace
3. The belt of truth
4. The shield of faith
5. The helmet of salvation
6. The sword of the spirit

The armor of God is basically a metaphor for the gear we need to wear and the action we need to take as we live our spiritual lives. We are fighting a daily war, and it’s more serious than most of us think. So putting on the the armor one piece at a time will cover us during battle. Every piece of the armor of God can make us impenetrable to Satan’s wiles. Because he’s always been an enemy of ours, he uses many strategies to trap us. From trying to convince us that following our lusts will bring us happiness, to telling us that we are hopeless sinners not deserving of help, we will never be saved the way God wants us to be, and my favorite lie that people tell me he tells them is, it doesn't take all of that to be a Christian. The bottom line is he knows he destiny and he will do anything to take us with him while he still has the opportunity. We have to be alert, keep our defenses up, and be able to attack him, sending him running away from us. As we wear the armor of God we will not be careless or casual to the evil we know will come our way. We should be anticipating his attack; he is as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Our enemy is not flesh and blood, we are up against a lot more than that. Ephesians 6:12 says; “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

It’s principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness of this world. We are also up against spiritual wickedness in high places. We fight against   an opponent whose forces are evil. His name is Satan, the devil, and he has a host of demons that help him carry out plans to discourage us as we live our lives for Christ. Make no mistake it’s not easy to fight this enemy of ours without armor and strategic battle plans. During the course of our everyday living, we could almost always forget who we are up against. So if we lose this fight, we lose everything. By putting on all of God's armor, we are able to withstand  the enemy and his tactics.

 How Do We Wear The Armor of God

We wear the armor as such. Having our loins girt about with the belt of truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness, having our feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace, always taking the shield of faith with us, so we can quench all the fiery darts of the wicked, having on the helmet of salvation to guard our thoughts, keep us from temptation,and guarding our ears and eye gates. With all of our gear on we are sure to protect ourselves from the evils of the enemy. Therefore making it a very prevalent part of Christianity in this day and time. This concludes the introduction to our bible study “Wearing the Armor of God
